Americans Traveling as Fake Canadians: Not a Myth?
We always hear about Americans pretending to be Canadians when they visit a foreign country, so they’ll be treated better. I always thought that this didn’t actually happen in real life. Maggie and I met a couple from Vancouver (I could tell they were real Canadians as one carried a Telus bag and the other a Mountain Equipment Co-op pack). They told us of this group they had met...

I suppose some people are confused about me...
Usually, my Tumblr is a bit more content-heavy, but (assuming you haven’t already guessed) I’m on vacation in Istanbul for the week. Except for post-processed DSLR photos I also took on the trip, I expect to be back on my regular content stream tomorrow or so. If you enjoy these photos of my trip (which are real-time, by the way), then please continue to do so. Right now, we are...

Murder weapon
Without prompting, Maggie has informed me that her top three choices for potential murder weapons would be: 3. Poison. 2. Carbon Monoxide. And my wife’s number one murder weapon of choice? 1. A knife made out of ice. Because “the evidence would just melt away”.

That's JoeBiz.: To Whom it may concern. →
thejoebiz: Jacob just posted a problem with websense blocking images on tumblr at work so I thought I’d look into it. It looks like tumblr uses different subdomains to load balance their image servers and some of them are blocked by websense. Observe the same images, different links: … I’M IN TURKEY. However, yes. It might be a simple thing to do. Remind me on the weekend.

Also, my face is burnt.
Forehead and nose. Why do I always let myself forget about sunblock?

Maggie just made an interesting point.
What if Pluto never wanted to be a planet? What if, for years and years, we had been calling it a planet and relating it to obnoxious monstrosities like Jupiter? That’s not cool. Just because Pluto doesn’t have asteroid buddies to defend it like Ceres does shouldn’t mean we can call Pluto hefty. Maybe Pluto was relieved that we finally stopped labeling it something that doesn’t apply.

The Trojan War(s)
The tour guide we had yesterday at Troy made an interesting point. Evidence from earlier strata at the Troy site suggests that battles were fought there much earlier than Priam’s time. Likely for the same reason: control of the waterway of the Dardanelles. In fact, the battle Homer wrote about wasn’t even the last for this reason. The first world war’s battle of Gallipoli was...
