Things always feel different at the tips of your fingers

Have you ever noticed that?

As soon you touch something with a part of your hand other than your distal phalanges, it becomes real. More solid. Less mysterious. A tool to be manipulated or a leaving of something.

Nothing feels exactly like you’d expect with your fingertips. The sight of it doesn’t match the sensual experience of the light touch with the extremities of your hand.

You brush against it, even if you press against it, your fingertips have a different impression of things.

I don’t know about you, but when I go about touching something with only my fingertips, I subconsciously lighten my touch. I’m more gentle. I can’t help but be so. It preserves the mystery.
