What being extroverted means to me (maybe not to you)

  1. People. People are interesting. I love seeing them, talking to them, watching them from a coffee shop window and speculating about where they are off to.
  2. Talking out my problems. Things make a lot more sense when I’m describing a problem and how I feel about it to someone else. You don’t even need to answer back, really, but I get so confused when I think about it alone.
  3. Being alone sucks. I can do it, but I’d usually rather not. Sometimes all I need is the presence of someone else. Prolonged seclusion is, frankly, detrimental to my emotional wellbeing. This is not an exaggeration, introverts.
  4. If I’m talking to you, I’m usually not trying to make you uncomfortable. Conversation is what I thrive on. I can do silence. I often need it to get things done. However, I know few other reliable ways to show someone I care for them and fewer to show you who I am.
  5. If you want me to stop talking, tell me. I can take it. I appreciate any and all efforts to meet me somewhere in the middle on that.
  6. I don’t like everyone and I am not always obvious about it. I am choosy, too. There are parts of me deep down that I don’t talk about at parties. Just because I talk constantly doesn’t necessarily mean you know me.
