Ask not why a dude is looking at dresses. Ask why more aren’t.
A maxi dress for summer with white chiffon with stripes and leather trimming? The style might not be for everyone, but I don’t mind suggesting it to those for whom it would work!
You need only really need three accessories with this dress, and one of them is your hair.
The last couple days, I’ve been looking at Peter Pan collars. Perhaps some of you will know what TV episode I watched on Saturday….
What I’m wondering is, can you have a Peter Pan collar with a deep keyhole in the back of the dress without it looking too odd? Because a high collar is cute, but skin is nice, too. Which is why I gravitate to the high collar with a short skirt.
I’m on a rustic kick today. Lose the hat and pearls and think of the following….
Imagine a woman with hair down to the tops of her shoulder blades, pushed back and around her ears. She’s got her eyes wide open and an uncomplicated smile, barely visible earrings, a short chain necklace with a diminutive pendant. She’s carrying a thin white sweater in case it gets cold.
Then, she comes up to you and offers to buy you a drink. Who cares if she’s interested in you? Say yes. Order something out of your comfort zone. Sputter when you find it tastes bad. Get the laugh you see waiting behind her lips.
- pockets
- short, flared skirt
- deep v-neck
- mmm…
Women have so many options. Yesterday, I bought another blazer. Snore.
Vintage 1960s Black Dress Day or Evening
It does look cute, but the scallop pattern is embroidered and I’m not 100% sure about that. Also, I lately have a thing for bows.
Okay, maybe not at first.
Picture this, though….
Thin, fitted, waist-length leather jacket. Boots. A slightly messy updo. A silver chain and pendant.

The face of a stalled code push queue on my bug rotation day.
When I push new code, I test the site to make sure I fixed whatever it is I was working on and that I didn’t break anything.
Things catch my eye. There’s a lot of great things here.
So, now that it has been pointed out to me, no, I still think favouriting cute vintage dresses on Etsy (these from TheyRoaredVintage) is a valuable use of my time.
Volunteer suited up.
I’ll be volunteering at Hello Etsy at Pratt in Brooklyn this weekend (starting tonight). If you’re an attendee and you see me, come say hi. Note that I have yet to be recognized in public outside of tumblr meetups!
Damn. IKEA Ektorp hasn’t looked so good!
Slipcover from FreshKnesting on Etsy. Seriously, someone stop me (but, really, don’t).
Somebody should stop me from buying things at work.
This one is from Neighborwoodmaps. Check them out, they’ve got a bunch of other cities (also as necklaces).
I keep finding gems on Etsy. I’m going to have a super-cool Ikea Ektorp chair. Seriously.
I’m not trying to sell the site to you or anything. I just found this while I was working on a site bug and immediately needed it.
I bought a laser-cut plastic case for my Raspberry Pi on Etsy (of course I did).
It looks nice (I got it from a shop called OxyJin) but I’m looking forward to the nice wood one I bought (not on Etsy) that will look good on the mantle.
