This is what I’m currently thinking about. Except maybe a third the size. Either in the same place or on my collarbone. Also, maybe just as a red outline.
I’m still not 100% on this particular idea, even.
I was warned I wouldn’t be able to stop at one.
I keep looking at it in the mirror, but it’s pretty hard without a hand mirror.
I like it my first tat muchly!
While my tattoo artist was setting up, the guy at the front desk of the shop was showing me this Bob Ross parody video if he had a show called “Joy of Tattooing” instead.
A happy little eagle on a happy little butt.
The photo is a bit blurry, and you can ignore my abundant freckles. Also, the fact that I appear not to be standing straight.
Here it is, my first tattoo!
For those of you just tuning in, here’s what it means to me.
These are brace brackets: { }
Brace brackets are used in math and in many computer programming languages to define complete sets of things that describe what makes them up. They are often used in programming to contain and separate a section of code that accomplishes something into its own context or function.
To me, it means I know who I am and what I am capable of.
I can’t reach to moisturize the bottom half of them, though. Can I get some help?
Tumblr, are you trying to get my shirt off?
I’ll show you the tat when I get the bandages off!
Done and done. Bandages off in a few hours, but I’m on my way home because clothes shopping has been fucking disappointing.
I picked* my font! It’s called Charlemagne Std.
*had help picking
Tattoo: I’m not a baby, but I play one sometimes
So, I gave myself two weeks to seriously consider my first tattoo. This self-imposed delay is up in 5 days.
So, I imagine everyone experiences it differently, and it depends on the part of the body, but how does it feel getting it done (I’m going for around the shoulder blades)?
Re: My awesome, meaningful, geeky tattoo idea
Dude, we go to the tweetup, pull off our shirts and make the (geek) ladies swoon. Problem solved.
Sleeping-On-My-First-Tattoo-Idea Update: Still Want It.
Gonna keep thinking about it.
I have a suddenly increased desire to get a tattoo. If I ever go through with it, it’ll probably end up being a mix of nerdy and meaningful.
The problem is that I’ve never thought of anything that I think would be meaningful enough long enough.
Right now what I’m thinking of is a pair of brace brackets on my shoulders (like the quotes in the above photo): { }
Maybe I imagine too much symbolism (and extremely nerdy symbolism, at that), but brace brackets are used in math and computers to define complete sets of things to describe what makes them up. They are often used in programming to contain and separate a section of code that accomplishes something into its own context.
What I intend that to mean is that I know who and what I am, and I know what I am capable of doing.
It would be my first tattoo, though. So, I want to sleep on it for a while.
