Tumbeasts getting you down? Kill some time waiting for Tumblr by going hunting! Just click on the silly little creatures to shoot ‘em. Complete with sound effects.
Note: This userscript is purely for entertainment purposes. I understand the infrastructure issues Tumblr suffers from, and I wish them the best. While I wait for uptime, I figured it would be nice to take my frustrations out on the little buggers that ruin everybody’s day.
Works on Firefox with Greasemonkey and Chrome
Userscript Installation Instructions
‘Missing e’
I’m *almost* done moving all my Tumblr userscripts into a single Google Chrome extension, with some new features.
Are you excited?
Woo!
I’ll also be working on extensions for Firefox and Safari. Chrome is just easier.

DO NOT REBLOG THIS! If you want, please reblog the original post (which has been updated with the new features) or my post relating to all my tumblr userscripts.
I’ve made a couple of useful updates for this NSFW-protecting tool:
- Photoset thumbnails are now revealed and hidden all at once when you hover your mouse over any of them
- Enlarged photoset slideshows (when you click on photoset thumbnails) are hidden unless you hover your mouse over it
Oops, looks like there was a bug in creating the tumblr name tags when replying to multiple posts. Version 0.5.1 is fixed now. Sorry!
I’ve updated the Tumblr Reply Replies userscript to add tags to the reply post for everybody you are replying to.
Also, you can change this setting (and the setting for whether or not to add the tumblr avatar to the new post) by right-clicking on a notification icon (or, if you have Firefox and Greasemonkey, using the menu item: Tools > Greasemonkey > User Script Commands… > Tumblr Reply Replies - Settings)
PLEASE DON’T REBLOG THIS! Instead, reblog the updated Tumblr Reply Replies post or the post for all my tumblr scripts if you want.

Q:Hey good sir,
At some point would it be possible to label our tumblr bookmarks from your great script? Sometimes I tag posts for reasons other than to remember my spot, and it would be helpful to know which bookmark is for what.
If not, no big deal.
It’s in my notes to do. It shouldn’t be extremely hard, but it’s there.
After the wedding. So, not long.
So I’m a pigheaded Anglophone, apparently
I just fixed the Tumblr Follow Checkr and Tumblr Unfollowr scripts so that they’ll work for tumblrs who have their language set to something other than English.
Sometimes googling your name for an hour means you find a tumblr post that asks “WHY DOES JEREMY CUTLER HATE GERMAN?”
Though, I’d have preferred a note in my askbox….
Tumblr Post Crushes - Now add usernames as tags in new posts
Those of you with Firefox will get informed of this update soon enough (or already have).
For everyone else, I’ve updated the Tumblr Post Crushes userscript to have a new option in settings to add your crushes’ usernames as tags in the new post. It defaults to not doing that unless you set it otherwise.
Tumblr SafeDash updated for performance!
I fixed a problem with my Tumblr SafeDash script that would result in load time taking longer and longer the more you scrolled through an endless dashboard.
Now, it should work O(n), where n is the number of posts loaded per scroll, as opposed to earlier version’s O(mn), where m is the number of times new posts have been loaded. Kudos if you understand my Big-O notation.
For those who don’t know, Tumblr SafeDash:
- Hides images in your tumblr dashboard in case they are NSFW
- Shows the images only when you point your mouse over the placeholder

Tumblr Post Crushes (a fix, but you don’t need to upgrade)
Do you see the hotness that should have been jezebelthegreat’s avatar? Yeah, I just fixed that so it shouldn’t happen anymore. You don’t need to upgrade, this fix went in on the server side.
If you are not a nerd, you don’t need to ready any further. Just know that I am great.
For the nerds out there, it turns out that PHP’s GD library doesn’t know what the fuck to do when it gets a PNG32 with grayscale + alpha data. So, I detect it by reading the 25th byte in binary for the value 4 (indicating that it is grayscale+alpha), then using cURL to POST to a third-party server to convert those PNGs into JPEG. Because this shitty server blocked out exec().
OOPS! I already found a bug in Tumblr Post Crushes. You should update to version 0.1.3 if you already downloaded it.
That’ll be 13 of you, I think.
PLEASE DON’T REBLOG THIS, REBLOG THE ORIGINAL POST!
Tumblr Post Crushes has been replaced by the ‘Missing e’ browser extension for tumblr, available for Chrome, Firefox and Safari!
Tumblr Post Crushes Userscript
To support future development, make a donation!
Automatically create posts showing your tumblr crushes, straight from your following page!
Works in Firefox with Greasemonkey, Google Chrome and Opera.
What It Does
- A “Post your Crushes to Tumblr” button appears on your following page (ie. tumblr.com/following), along with a custom settings link.
- Click on the button to automatically start a new photo post with a pre-generated image of your current crushes, and a list of links to their tumblr pages.
Customizable Settings
- Display large or small avatars (the small version is the same size as you see on your following page)
- Show or hide crush percentages
- Add a prefix for the list of crushes in the post (such as “Tumblr Crushes:”)
- Include crush usernames as tags in the new post
Limitations
The server that generates the crush images has limited bandwidth. If WAY too many people use it in during a single month, the auto-generated image may not work until the 1st of the following month.

Q:how do you install that tumblr thing?
So, I have no intention of answering anon questions about my tumblr scripts.
Why? Because of questions like this one.
What script are you talking about? What browser? Do you even follow me to see the answer?
If I answered it, I’d be fielding them all the time. If, instead, you were to ask as yourself, I could just drop the answer in you askbox. I do a fair bit of tech support that way. That way, nobody has to know you asked the question!
Nobody needs to know that you aren’t bright enough to realize:
- The script webpages all include a link to the installation instructions
- Most of my tumblr script posts include a link to the installation instructions
- My tumblr page header includes a LINK TO THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Sorry, anon. I’m in a bad mood.
Honestly, if you DO have any trouble, please feel free to post questions in my askbox. I’ll do my best to help out. JUST DON’T DO IT AS ANON.

Neat. I just wrote a script to automatically generate this post (minus this little message, of course). It’s not ready for the light of day yet, but I was wondering if you guys think this is worthwhile?
This is what the followers page could look like:
